History[]

2008-2015: Career Beginnings[]

Before Youtube, he ran an account on Newgrounds where he would upload animations (c. 2003).

On March 2, 2008 - He created his first YouTube channel, "maurice barnett". Which consisted of his old storytime and how-to videos. The channel has been inactive since, as he has forgotten the password to get in.

He attended Joshua Villa High School and it was during his high school years that his passion for video games became his profession. However, it was years later that he realized that he could make money from playing video games.

He created a gaming channel, on June 15, 2013, called BlastphamousHD Gaming, which not only contains his other storytime and how-to videos, he would occasionally upload vlogs here and there, he plays games such as Five Nights at Freddy's, GTA V, Overwatch, etc.

As with other channels at the time, he gained popularity from his FNAF videos, as well as his parody on How To Make Five Nights At Freddy's Not Scary videos. Another factor of what made him popular is his unique, obnoxious, flirty, and vibrant personality. He occasionally uploads challenge videos like Disgusting Soda, Bean Boozled, and more.[2][3]

He has reacted to a couple of videos on his channel as a request, but because of the large majority of his audience requesting him to dedicate his reaction videos to a separate channel.

On November 12th, 2014, he launched his reaction channel, BlastphamousHD TV, followed by BlastphamousHD Pranks on November 30. Where he would prank his friends and uploads about his life experiences[4].

2016-2017: Channel growth and BHD Try Not To Laugh Challenges[]

In early 2016, he created a backup reaction channel named BlastphamousHD TV2, because of receiving several copyright notices on his main channel, he also claims that his "backup channel will be uploaded that will not be uploaded to the main reaction channel", stated in most of his reaction videos at the end.

His now-terminated channel BlastphamousHD TV consists of reaction videos, he would react to various videos that contain a majority such as WorldStarHipHop or Vine compilations, risking in copyright. However, due to several copyright claims from his reaction videos and as a result, most features on his reaction channel became limited, as some of his videos are capped at 15 minutes.

Formerly, he would collaborate with his fellow friends for a reaction or a challenge video, such as Dr.J andthewomen, ChavezzSlovakia, and his brother KT-TV, but due to rocky relationships caused his friends and family members to dwindle a little bit, it caused to break friendships with some of his friends. He would also frequently stream on YouNow to interact and joke around with fans, he hasn't been active since 2016.

Sometime in mid-2016, he requested his fans to make funny reaction videos into a compilation or make it into a BHD Try Not To Laugh/Scared/Just Wait series of videos, taking clips completely out of context and making him say inappropriate or outrageous things, the criteria is that it has to be at least 5 minutes long, there will be a giveaway if they included his videos on his gaming channel. People who are involved in this challenge such as Commeredo, bownsir, JaggedSalad, hunter1s1k, and ReneSkunk777Mc have gained popularity due to their edits. ReneSkunk777Mc is highly praised by Barnett and his audience because of his unique and high-level editing. He ended the challenge, though his fans persisted to react to their submissions despite this.

"BlastphamousHD Vlogs" is renamed to "Maurice Barnett" on October 20, 2017[5] Barnett commissioned an artist to animate his past storytimes.

2018-present: Channel termination, current state, and Cooking with BlastphamousHD[]

Clocking in around 2.4 million subscribers, his reaction channel was terminated on April 13, 2018[6], for violating YouTube's terms of service, probably due to several copyright takedowns. Because of this, he quickly transitions over his other channels, mostly on his archive channel, BlastphamousHD TV2.

Most of his new reaction videos started to lack quality, genuineness, and variety, his audience doesn't satisfy his style because of his mediocre reactions, intentional laughs, etc., this is due to YouTube being strictly family-friendly in their platform and he had to "water-down" his personality, this includes bleeping curse words or not curse at all in his new videos, and avoiding anything remotely offensive or political.

In one of his vlogs, Turner EST (their umbrella network for Turner Broadcasting) has filed numerous cases of copyright infringement on a show The Amazing World of Gumball, which they own the rights to, and banned him from making such content in the future.

He launched 3 new channels on September 2019,

  • BlastphamousHD Cooking is a cooking channel at launched on September 4, 2019, has he tries ways to branch and expand his content, he's uploaded 3 videos so far. His show Cooking with BlastphamousHD premiered on November 16, 2019. It currently has 2 episodes as of June 2020.
  • YUNG CHILD SUPPORT on September 6, 2019, it was supposed to be an unboxing channel, was previously called BlastphamousHD Unboxing, but later renamed to YUNG CHILD SUPPORT for unknown reasons.
  • BHD Clips on September 7, 2019 - it serves as highlights of his reaction videos.

As of right now, he doesn't upload occasionally as he previously does. He livestreams on Twitch more often. He hasn't uploaded any of his channels except his reaction and gaming channels.

Music expansion, and the debut of Yung Child Support[]

YUNG CHILD SUPPORT - I Da Pappi (Official Music Video)

In 2013, on his gaming channel, he would upload gaming voiceover dubs and music parodies. His notable one where he dubbed the song "Beat It" by Sean Kingston whilst incorporating Outlast footage in conjunction with the lyrics interpreted.[7][8]

In mid-2016, one of his BHD Try Not To Laugh Videos, bownsir incorporated bits of his commentary and turn it into a hip-hop song. Barnett was praised by this, and so, bownsir was starting to incorporate more of the music video format at the end of his videos, bownsir even implemented a mixtape album called Struggle Bars; which would be on streaming platforms but released as independent singles. This gave Barnett an inspiration for making music since then as he went by his stage name Yung Child Support, produced by bownsir, his most notable tracks are "Spread It", "Pill Cosby", "tuna suB", "Trying Times", "Suck My Ass", and more.

On September 3, 2017 - he released his fully-pledged single called "I Da Pappy" featuring Randy of Dr. J and the Women, produced and arranged by bownsir. Both the music video and the deleted scenes were released on November 7. The music video features Barnett in a strip club and on top of a building.

He has covered other songs such as "Freek'N You" by Jodeci, "The Box" by Roddy Rich, "Reminder" by The Weeknd, and "Mask Off" by Future, which he made a parody from his song "Ads Off" - where he states about things about how YouTube demonetizes his videos due to non-advertiser-friendly content he uploads and possibly going in debt due to his videos not gaining at least 80% of the revenue he would usually gain.

Controversies[]

As a status of being a reaction channel, he was a vulnerable and easy target to fuel into some controversies. His controversies are arranged in chronological order.

PsiSyndicate[]

In March 2016, Psi has stated his bold reaction commentary. Barnett's fans didn't appreciate his opinion and were heavily criticized for it. Both of them were eventually settled in DramaAlert.[9]

Lamborghini Gift Prank[]

On April 19, 2016, Bernett tweeted:

"Rented a lambo today and went joy riding around....... Then pulled probably the worst prank I've ever pulled on anyone on my mom..."[10]

On April 25, he uploaded the video "$500,000 Lamboghini Gift Prank......sorry mom", where he rents a Lamborghini for a day and convinces his mom that she owns the Lamborghini. Her initial reaction was very excited and impressed. But he gave the car keys and states that it's hers, she was highly astonished, she nearly broke into tears and apologized mere moments later.

While the video was met with praise to his fans with positive comments, the majority of the comments are constant death threats and fat-shaming Barnett's mom on the video, as well as malicious comments by his actions pranking on his mom. As a result, he disabled the comments section.

Short-lived beef with Pyrocynical[11][]

In May 2016, he and a fellow YouTube commentator Pyrocynical were involved in a drama when Pyro tweeted "new youtube sensation" along with a screenshot with a catalog of his videos, Barnett didn't appreciate the tweet and blocked him as he follows up by another tweet, this time a screenshot of the blocked profile of BlastphamousHD's twitter, along with the words "the weed has been smoken". Barnett took to Instagram, stating that Pyro was a wuss, and criticized his content. Pyro fired back by responding to how Barnett steals thumbnails by a YouTuber LtCorbis.

Minnesotaboyy[]

At VidCon 2016, Minnestoaboyy attacked Barnett for his comment. Minnesotaboyy was given death threats to Barnett and his family members. He was also criticized for a video where he describes that because of his "waxed" head, he faced several embarrassing incidents were he's "closed to being raped".

Even though the beef has already ended between them, all of his videos have disabled ratings and comments since then. He may be involved in the termination of his reaction channel, BlastphamousHD TV, which he possibly flagged and reported, leading to a video of him being off the platform.

Top10Archive Extortion[]

I Am Being Sued, Extorted And Threatened To Be Deleted By A Youtuber With 1 Million Subs......

Archived video

In April 2017, Barnett uploaded a video "I Am Being Sued, Extorted And Threatened To Be Deleted By A Youtuber With 1 Million Subs......"; where he explains that Top10Archive is essentially being extorted for money, otherwise, he'll get sued. It started last year when Top10Archives wanted to collaborate with BlastphamousHD to their Top 10 videos, to which he obliged, however, Top10Archive suggested that he will provide a shoutout segment for at least 35-40 seconds in the beginning.[12] He also compares reaction channels like FailArmy, he would review the video to Top10Archive before it goes public, and he would pay him $100 via PayPal. Otherwise, his videos will get taken down.

When Barnett noticed that one of his videos got taken down by Top10Archives, he took a risky move and send a counter-notification, later then, Top10Archive sent a threatening email that says "Wanna get sued?"; stating that he should revoke the counter-claim, otherwise, Barnett will lose his channel and probably getting in court, if he chooses to remove the strikes, if he doesn't, he needs to pay $25-50k, and he needs to pay lawyer fee if he does to be on the court. When Barnett uploaded an exposed the email on his video, Top10Archives is getting a mass of dislikes on their videos. Barnett then goes on to say that Top10Archive has extorted creators before by abusing the Content ID system.

Until then, Barnett didn't want to deal with it in court and he has no choice but to remove the videos himself that he reacted to Top10Archive's videos to prevent any further risks to his channel. And advises to other reaction creators to never react to videos from Top10Archive.

Scarce made a video for this entire situation.[13]

Personal life[]

Maurice Barnett was born on October 16, 1985, in Compton, California. He is of African-American descent.[9] Barnett loved playing video games since his childhood, he discusses this more on the topics about his personal life and his past childhood incidents which include his moments of embarrassments, humourous, and almost traumatizing moments throughout his numerous segments called BHD Storytimes. He currently lives in Las Vegas.

On a particular GTA gameplay, he revealed that he has aquaphobia. At 11 years old, he was watching an episode on the Discovery Channel, which involves underground creatures in the ocean. At one point he stated that "A GIANT SQUID EYE WENT ACROSS THE SCREEN" to the point that it traumatized him, which reminded him when he was 6 years old, he had a disturbing memory where he fell off a cruise ship, what he saw underneath was "blue emptiness", fortunately, he was able to save him.[14]

Relationship with Dr. Realness[]

Main article: Dr. Realness § Relationship with BlastphamousHD

Her relationship with Dr. Realness has been very rocky, she soon broke up with Barnett in late-2016, due to cheating on her with multiple women for three years out of their five-year-long relationship.[15]

Regarding his personal life, Barnett tends to keep his most intimate details, such as marital status, and a number of fans hidden from the public eyes. For the time being, he is fully focused on his internet career, and seemingly tries to put aside all other distractions.[1]
